Our 27th Annual Exposition Sunday, May 22nd, 2011 at White Rock Lake Park |
AWESOME SHOW:Thanks to all who attended in making this a smashing success despite being moved from original location 24 hours prior to event, overcast skie, and threat of rain. In fact, most of you stated you like Dreyfuss Club point better! So do we. It has the hard surfaces (in case of rain), beautiful view of the lake, continuous breeze, and shady, grassy surroundings plus picnic tables and trash facility. With a few tweaks, this will be an awesome site for next year. **Please watch our Facebook page for additional photo postings.** Vehicle Classes:Alfa Romeo ▪ Austin Healey ▪ British & European Motorbike To 1970 ▪ Motorbike POST 1971 ▪ German ▪ Italian ▪ Jaguar ▪ Lotus ▪ MG Classic Mini ▪ Modern Mini ▪ Morgan ▪ Race Car ▪ Rolls/Bentley ▪ Standard/Triumph ▪ Other British & European ▪ |

Next year, we will be consolidating a few of the classes that had less than 10 vehicle entries. Awards:Awards were determined by popular voting. Each class had 3 winners: First, Second, and Third. Only antique vehicles qualify for the class awards except the Modern Mini's class. Due to incoming storm, vote counting started at 3pm in order to award the prizes and get folks on their way. Shoes for Orphan SoulsYou donated 72 NEW pair of shoes making our cumulative total 1,034 pairs of shoes collected and $2,605.50 for Shoes for Orphan Souls. You have no idea how much happiness a pair of new shoes brings to a distressed child! Thank you for your generosity. The Cadette/Senior Girl Scout Troop 1849 will be busy collating personal comfort kits for residents at the Ronald MacDonald House in Dallas. Thanks for all those new, hotel size toiletries. They also filled up the back of my Metropolitan!

Car ClubsThis year the clubs that attended were: sponsoring club Jaguar Owners Association of the Southwest, Central Oklahoma Jaguar Association, Ferrari Club of America, Italian Car Club of the Southwest, Jaguar Drivers Club of North Texas, Lone Star Alfa Romeo Owners Club, Mini Owners of Texas, Metroplex Mini's, Morgan Club, North Texas Norton Owners Association, Red River Triumph Club, Rolls Royce Owners Club, the Texas MG Register, and the Texas Region Sports Car Club of America. Parking:Everyone did a fabulous job of parking their trailers in the designated area and unloading show vehicles to drive into Dreyfuss Club. Concerned with cyclist and pedestrian traffic, we did limit spectator drop off and parking was at Stone Tables. Next year, we already have a solution to allow more spectator parking without the half mile hike.

Participating Vendors:Despite last minute changes, the vendors were happy to be a part of this awesome crowd. ABCDE wants to thank : British Auto Specialists, British Leyland Auto Care, Herb Turner Insurance Agency, Kip Motor Company, Midlife Classics, MINI of Plano, Retro Air, Scentsy, Sports Car Warehouse, Steve's Carlocks, and Fiat of McKinney for their support. Concessions:Our primary food concessioner, Marshall's BBQ continues to provide plenty of good eats! Although the additional spectator traffic and hungry crowds overwhelmed the staff around noon; Marshall's never did they run out of chopped-beef-on-a-bun! We'd like to add some variety to our concessions for our next show. If you have any suggestions, please email me at abcde(at)kipmotor.com. |
