The Land Rover Series II arrived with plans for a full restoration, but our initial inspection quickly uncovered serious structural issues. The bulkhead showed extensive rust, and the left-hand body mount at the A-pillar had completely failed. Rather than attempt major repairs, we determined a chassis transplant offered the most cost-effective and reliable solution, along with bulkhead replacement.
At Kip, we believe a solid chassis forms the foundation of any safe, drivable vehicle. With that in mind, we prioritized the chassis and mechanical systems, leaving paint and bodywork for a later phase.
The project evolved into a full frame-off restoration, including a complete chassis replacement. Our team cleaned, serviced, and refinished the engine, refreshed the suspension, and rebuilt the rear axle. We also installed a new wiring harness to ensure long-term reliability and road readiness.
