Mechanical Restoration: 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII (BJ8)

This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII (BJ8) has stayed in the same family since the 1970s. The owner’s father originally purchased the car and later passed it down more than 20 years ago, giving it lasting sentimental value. The owner drove the BJ8 regularly until the pandemic, then placed it into storage. Now, he wants to bring the car back to a reliable, road-ready condition.

This project focuses on a practical mechanical refurbishment rather than a concours-level restoration. The goal is clear: deliver a classic British sports car that runs strong, drives confidently, and looks great on the road. Our team rebuilt the engine, updated the brake system, and refreshed the suspension. After removing the engine, we discovered structural issues and repaired them before reinstalling the rebuilt unit.

Every project at Kip starts with a thorough inspection. We evaluate the engine, drivetrain, electrical system, and chassis, then create a clear plan that prioritizes reliability, safety, and drivability. With careful planning and skilled craftsmanship, this Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII will return to the road ready to create a new generation of memories.
