Restoration: 1962 Metropolitan

The client began restoring another Nash Metropolitan, but severe rust and poor structural condition made that project impractical. Our team helped the client locate a solid Metropolitan hardtop that could serve as a better foundation for a dependable restoration.

We sourced a straight and structurally sound car with a good body and minimal rust. The Metropolitan had received a repaint many years earlier and had not been on the road for quite some time. Despite its long period off the road, the car remained complete and offered an excellent starting point for restoration.

When the vehicle arrived at our facility, our technicians completed a full inspection. The engine turned over but showed low compression, which indicated the need for mechanical attention. The original interior showed its age as well, with faded materials and years of accumulated wear.

Although the car retained all of its original components, both the cosmetics and mechanical systems required restoration. Our team developed a plan to refresh the vehicle and return it to reliable driving condition. The goal was to create a dependable Nash Metropolitan that the owner could enjoy on occasional drives while preserving the charm of this classic compact.

Projects like this highlight the importance of starting with a solid restoration candidate. By locating a better foundation, we helped ensure the long-term success of this Metropolitan hardtop restoration.
