This Austin FX4 London Taxi arrived not running or stopping. For the client to have a safe and fun driving Taxi, we determined a full engine/transmission rebuild would be required. After our evaluation, we recommended that the brake, fuel, and electrical system would all need refurbishing. The Californian client also wanted new paint and interior which opened the door for the discovery of rust and lots of it. Rust and metal repairs can easily double the budget on a restoration since one can’t see what’s hiding underneath until the vehicle is completely disassembled. Such is the life of an Austin London Taxi owner.
